Fun on the Web Nov 23 '09 Spice up fruits and vegetables

Do you reuse your vegetable water? Let me know what you think; make a comment.

“I like to mix pumpkin into my brownie mix. Take a box of brownie mix (any brand) and add a large can of Libby’s 100 percent pumpkin. Nothing else—no water, eggs or oil. Mix well. It’ll look a little dry, but it’s not! Bake as usual. Your brownies will be vegetable-packed, fat-free and low in cholesterol.” From — Sophie Pachella, founder of

Fun on the Web Nov 20 '09 Aliens

The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. We can't be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we're not all there is. If so, we're in big trouble.

Fun on the Web Nov 16 '09 Sunscreens

Sunscreen effectiveness: This may seem like a strange topic at this time of year but I worry about the sun all year long. With my fair complexion I can burn quickly no matter what time of year it is if I'm outside long enough (and for me that's not very long).

Fun on the Web Nov 12 '09 Bank Robbery Notes

Actual bank robbery notes

They say:
"Banks are considering implementing a ‘dress code’ to deter robbers. 90% of bank robbers use the hats/hoods/sunglasses disguise. They like to blend in with other customers until they reach the teller window, where they display a robbery note or gun.

“…“If you see a guy (in a bank lobby) with a baseball cap, dark glasses and a mustache (or) beard, it’s probably a bank robber, not a customer,” said Lt. Larry Faulkner of the Dayton Police Department. Faulker said the disguise is so common, he advises tellers to call the police if they simply see a man dressed in that manner waiting in line.

The FBI and police nationwide are advising banks to adopt a policy of “no hats, no hoods, no sunglasses, no cell phones” to head off robberies. More banks are doing so, but in some cases the idea is pitting police against bankers concerned about alienating law-abiding customers.

Special Agent Harry Trombitas of the FBI’s Columbus office says bank robbery numbers could be lower if more banks had a “no hats” policy."

I say: Based on reading this if you see a guy (in a bank lobby) with a baseball cap, dark glasses and a mustache (or) beard, it's time to LEAVE do not pass go, do not cash a check just GO.

Fun on the Web Nov 8 '09 Add-Ons

Since I have been using Firefox I have discovered a whole range of add-ons like SimilarWeb, XMarks, due to this website which pops up when I login now and again

I think I really like SimilarWeb which shows other similar websites (in a sidebar) to whatever you are looking at on the current page. Right now it is showing me other Blogger Tools.

Read a review for Similar Web

Install Xmarks on each computer you use, and it seamlessly integrates with your web browser and keeps your bookmarks safely backed up and in sync. Get site info before you click. Simply move your mouse over the site info icon to learn more about that site. Xmarks shows you bookmark popularity, average review, related topics and more.

DownThemAll lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want. It features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400%, it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time.

YSlow analyzes web pages and suggests ways to improve their performance based on a set of rules for high performance web pages.
