Fun on the Web Nov 12 '09 Bank Robbery Notes

Actual bank robbery notes
http://www.banknotes365.com/

They say:
"Banks are considering implementing a ‘dress code’ to deter robbers. 90% of bank robbers use the hats/hoods/sunglasses disguise. They like to blend in with other customers until they reach the teller window, where they display a robbery note or gun.

“…“If you see a guy (in a bank lobby) with a baseball cap, dark glasses and a mustache (or) beard, it’s probably a bank robber, not a customer,” said Lt. Larry Faulkner of the Dayton Police Department. Faulker said the disguise is so common, he advises tellers to call the police if they simply see a man dressed in that manner waiting in line.

The FBI and police nationwide are advising banks to adopt a policy of “no hats, no hoods, no sunglasses, no cell phones” to head off robberies. More banks are doing so, but in some cases the idea is pitting police against bankers concerned about alienating law-abiding customers.

Special Agent Harry Trombitas of the FBI’s Columbus office says bank robbery numbers could be lower if more banks had a “no hats” policy."

I say: Based on reading this if you see a guy (in a bank lobby) with a baseball cap, dark glasses and a mustache (or) beard, it's time to LEAVE do not pass go, do not cash a check just GO.

When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and you experience

In the meat department, there is the aroma of charcoal grilled steaks

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens cluck and cackle, and

the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The bread department features the tantalizing smell of fresh baked

Fun on the Web Aug 31 '09 Andy Rooney on Women

In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about
women over 40:

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few
reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask,
'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around
whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more
interesting.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at
the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you
deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get
away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's
like to be unappreciated.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a
woman over 40.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her
younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you
are a jerk, if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where
you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately,
it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman
over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of
himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for
free? here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against
marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig
just to get a little sausage!

Ok, we have hit the dregs of the TV preseason, so I have been playing with my cable On Demand feature which offers many TV series archives and with the library which offers previous seasons episodes on DVD. My new favorite, is Entourage with Adrian Grenier as Vincent Chase (the star), Kevin Dillon as (his brother) Johnny 'Drama' Chase, and Jeremy Pivens as Ari Gold a wise cracking agency head. If you haven't already, check it out. It's on HBO.

Recently I had the pleasure of a class in Reading Tarot Cards.
For many years I had someone who read my cards but now
she is gone so I may start reading them myself. To do that I

thousands of different decks so you don't get them home, open
them up and discover they just won't work for you.

Imagine my surprise when I got online today and found an article about a new Jeff Healy album! Ruf Records announced a September 8th US release date for "Songs From The Road". Released in Canada by Stony Plain Records in July, a new collection of eleven previously-unreleased live performances taken from concerts recorded in Norway, England, and Canada during 2006 and 2007.

Produced by Healey's friend and band member, bassist Alec Fraser, Songs From The Road displays a mix of original material and cover songs such as:
White Room (Cream)
Come Together (The Beatle's)
Whipping Post (The Allman Brothers)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George Harrison)

Healey also offers an updated version of his 1988 hit "Angel Eyes."

The Cat's Diary:
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Jerks!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

. . . "CINNAMON
This aromatic spice may be good for more than stirring a hot toddy or sprinkling on a cappuccino. Cinnamon, it turns out, contains a molecule with insulin-like properties that may help people with Type 2 diabetes. A small study in Pakistan showed that 30 patients with diabetes had significantly lower blood levels of glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol after taking cinnamon for 40 days. In a separate study, however, scientists at the University of California at Santa Barbara and the Sansum Medical Research Institute found that not all cinnamon is created equal. While some varieties had no impact, others lowered blood-glucose levels in studies of obese mice. . ."

As a car sped past them, the driver leaned out his window and yelled, 'You religious nuts!'

From the curve they heard screeching tires, and a big splash...
